Bend Allowance Calculator
Calculate the arc length of material used in a tube bend based on die CLR and bend angle. Tube size doesn’t matter as this is based on centerline of the tube.
The radius from the center of bending die to the centerline of your tubing.
The angle of the bend being made (e.g. 45° or 90°).
Formula: Arc Length = CLR × Degrees × 0.01745 | 0.01745 = 2π ÷ 360. CLR should be measured from the die center to the tube centerline, not the tube inner or outer wall.

A few honest caveats — cage tubes in a real rollover see combined axial compression, bending, and torsion simultaneously, not pure axial load. This calculator is the right starting point and will flag obviously bad tube choices, but final cage design should still go through a sanctioned builder or engineer, especially for SFI/FIA homologation.
